My thoughts about InfoFlow

Hello

I had installed InfoFlow for a while On my Android tablet but never really used it. Over the past few days, I’ve been diving deep into InfoFlow and transferred my countless open browser tabs into InfoFlow. In the process, I noticed a few things:

Feature Requests:

  • Snapshot of the entire page instead of just pure HTML and text (Examples: HamsterBase, Raindrop.io)
  • Straico support for LLM models (own API key)
  • A filter for unread articles in the homepage overview
  • The ability to create tags and folders directly when adding links
  • I miss being able to see on the homepage which tags, folders, or notes a saved article has
  • Reminders for bookmarks. For example remind me tomorrow at xy time
  • Recognition when a URL has already been added (duplicate detection)
  • Peer-to-peer sync for synchronization across devices (Example: HamsterBase)
  • Favorites list. The option to mark content as a favorite
  • Uploading and analyzing images
  • Consideration of the content’s language. For instance, if the app is in German and the content is in English, the summary is generated in German
  • The ability to save only the URL without any content. This is useful, for example, when only bookmarking images

Bugs:

I’ve read a few comments on Reddit stating that InfoFlow was shut down in November of last year. Now, it appears to be rebuilding. I’d like to purchase a license for 5 devices, but I’m concerned that InfoFlow might be discontinued again.

Thanks for reading!

Hi @StellarSoul ,

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback and bug reports! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your insights after diving into InfoFlow.

Our product and engineering teams are already evaluating your feedback. For some of the quicker wins, we’re aiming to add them soon. And for the bugs you reported, we’re prioritizing fixes ASAP.

We especially appreciate your detailed thoughts on the snapshot feature:

Just wanted to clarify regarding Raindrop.io - as far as we know, they don’t offer full content snapshots, but rather function as a bookmark manager.

You’re right about HamsterBase’s approach, and we’re aware of the challenges. Major players like ReadWise, Pocket, and Instapaper also avoid full HTML snapshots for good reason: it’s incredibly difficult to do reliably across the web. Saving full HTML with JavaScript/CSS often breaks rendering due to website security checks and complexity. The most viable approach is generally “readable” mode or markdown.

For those rare cases where parts are missing, we recommend:

  • Using the InfoFlow Chrome plugin as the clipper (it’s often more robust)
  • Editing the content after saving to append anything missing

Regarding your suggestion to save URLs without content:

This is a fantastic idea and a great addition to our readability clipper! We’ll definitely be adding this mode soon. We’re also exploring features similar to Raindrop’s “sync bookmark” functionality.

Finally, thanks for raising your concern about InfoFlow’s future:

We understand your concern! To address this, we now offer a subscription option for InfoFlow Pro alongside the one-time purchase. Plus, we’re launching InfoFlow Cloud (our own server, not Google Drive/OneDrive) this week or next week, also subscription-based.

Our goal is to make InfoFlow a stable and affordable long-term alternative to tools like Omnivore, ReadWise, Pocket, Cubox, and Instapaper. We’re also planning to integrate exciting content writing features powered by AI. Stay tuned for more updates!

Thanks again for your valuable feedback, @StellarSoul! It really helps us improve InfoFlow.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought Raindrop would save the whole webpage as well. In their pro version, they have offline access to the saved webpages, but maybe I’m confusing it with something else.

It’s a bit cumbersome to copy and paste on mobile devices, but I will do that for the rare occasions when content is missing.

That sounds great! Would peer-to-peer sync also be a possible sync method in the future? That would be a more privacy-focused way than using cloud storage, as it only syncs between devices. I’m using the app Syncthing to sync different data between my devices, and it uses a similar approach. I would really appreciate something like this.

Will InfoFlow Cloud be included in the Lifetime price, or is it a separate product that I would have to pay extra for?

Thank you!

InfoFlow Cloud will be a separate product because it incurs variable costs related to maintenance and storage, similar to cloud computing expenses.

At this time, we haven’t determined how to implement a peer-to-peer sync feature, so we can’t commit to offering it in the foreseeable future.

We’re working on improving this experience. A new Safari extension for iOS is in development, along with additional ways to streamline content management on mobile devices.
