Trying to decide between InfoFlow and Twilar

A couple important questions before committing to your app:

I’ve been looking for an Omnivore replacement. I’ve compared many different read-it-later and bookmark manager apps and have found your apps to be the most feature-rich for my purposes.

Before investing money and energy into one of these two apps, I want to know if I can rely on the app’s future existence. (I’m feeling kind of burned by the way Omnivore disappeared with basically no notice.)

My questions are:

• Is InfoFlow replacing Twilar or will both apps run parallel?

• If both will continue to be available, what are the reasons to choose InfoFlow over Twilar?

• Can I count on InfoFlow? Is it here to stay or will I find myself in the same situation as with Omnivore at some point?

• When signing up for Pro membership — do I need to pay separately for service on each of my devices (eg: iPhone, iPad and MacBook) or can I sign up for an account that I can access from each device? (And how does that compare between Twilar & InfoFlow?)

Please let me know — and thank you in advance!

Hi @Ally ,

Welcome to the InfoFlow community and thanks for your excellent questions! It’s great to hear you’re considering InfoFlow as an Omnivore replacement. Let me address your points:

Is InfoFlow replacing Twilar or will both apps run parallel?

InfoFlow is not replacing Twilar. Both apps will run in parallel. Twilar is focused on Apple-first technologies, while InfoFlow is designed as a cross-platform solution. We see issues with being solely on the Apple platform and want to offer a broader solution with InfoFlow.

If both will continue to be available, what are the reasons to choose InfoFlow over Twilar?

The key differences are:
* All-platform support: InfoFlow will be available on more platforms than Twilar.
* API support: InfoFlow will have APIs for Obisidian and plugins, offering greater extensibility.
* AI-heavy features: InfoFlow will be heavily focused on AI, with features like mindmap generation, chat with content, and AI agents.
* One-time purchase with Google Drive/OneDrive: InfoFlow offers a one-time purchase option with local storage using your own Google Drive or OneDrive.

Can I count on InfoFlow? Is it here to stay or will I find myself in the same situation as with Omnivore at some point?

This is a great question! Yes, you can count on InfoFlow and we will try our best. We understand your concern after Omnivore.

Unlike Omnivore’s free model which proved unsustainable, we launched InfoFlow with a payment plan from the start to ensure financial stability.

We are also launching InfoFlow Cloud this month or next with a subscription model, similar to our competitors like ReadWise, Pocket, Instapaper, and Omnivore, to further ensure long-term sustainability and development. Our goal is to build a financially viable and feature-rich read-it-later tool.

When signing up for Pro membership — do I need to pay separately for service on each of my devices (eg: iPhone, iPad and MacBook) or can I sign up for an account that I can access from each device?

Currently, the one-time purchase Pro license is device-specific for InfoFlow. This is due to limitations with one-time purchase licensing models not allowing user-based unlocks when using your own storage provider. However, we recognize this is not ideal for users with multiple devices.

The good news is that with the upcoming InfoFlow Cloud subscription, you will be able to access your Pro features across all your devices with a single subscription! InfoFlow Cloud is launching very soon (this week or next). It also comes with a web version of InfoFlow.

If you’d like to try InfoFlow Cloud features right now, please email us your device IDs (found in InfoFlow’s About page in settings). We can grant you early access.

Thank you again for your questions, Ally! We are committed to making InfoFlow a reliable and powerful tool for the long term.

We’re also working on the roadmap / friendly release notes and it will be added on to our website and apps soon.
